Fall. The greatest time of year

Ask someone what there favorite time of year is and you will probably get one of the following answers:
  • The holidays: "I just love Christmas, snow, new years eve, family..................."
  • Spring: "The trees are blooming, green fields, birds chirping, etc............"
  • Early Summer: "warm weather, the 4th of July, fireworks......"
Now personally, I have nothing against holidays, fireworks, and warm weather. But Fall has a leg up on all other times of year. Summer winds down which can bring mixed feelings, but lets be honest; it was to fucking hot out anyway. Now some folks like the fall because of all the pretty leaves and all the colors at autumn brings. Once again, nothing against leaves and foliage and whatnot, but Fall is great for many reasons and none of them have anything to do with trees.....
  1. First and foremost, as of the Thursday before Labor day, College football has begun. It doesn't matter who is playing, Middle Tennessee Central Tech State v. University of Phoenix Online, whoever; I will watch that first game with twice the excitement of the last 5 Superbowls.
  2. Fall Baseball. Not much needs to be said here, playoffs are approaching the wildcard race is in full swing, the Yankees have pulled their season around once again, and soon enough we will see what the playoff matchups will look like.
  3. What would this blog be without something about food. Fall is the time of year the grill was ment for. As temperatures drop into the less than balls hot range, it becomes much more bearable to stand next to your hot grill.
I could go all day. But I will probably just end up talking more about the Yankees and the Gators and you haters would start to get annoyed. Lets just get to the "Act like you have been here before" recipe of the week:

Everyone likes burgers, and unless you are a doucebag you like cheese too. So give these a try
  • 1 pound of ground chuck. (lean if you want to be a puss)
  • Worcestershire
  • Garlic Salt
  • Black pepper
  • 1 pound block of sharp cheddar
  • Hamburger buns (don't be cheap, buy some good ones.
In a bowl, add about 2 tbl spoons of Worcestershire, a few shakes of garlic salt and black pepper to the ground beef. Mix well. Make into 1/2-3/4 inch thin hockey puck-sized patties. Cut cheese into thin square slices.

Place the cheese slices on top of half of the patties. Place a second patty on top of each. Take each set up and pat in your hands until you can no longer tell there was once two patties. Grill to your liking.

If you want to be real crazy, put another slice of cheese on top of each burger 1 minute before pulling them off the grill...

Eat. Pretend like you have done this before when people say " holy shit, is there cheese on the inside of of these burgers" you say things like "yeah its really techincal and takes lots of practice ..........." niner.

Now what kind of cheese exactly are you recommending here? Sharp cheddar I suppose is an obvious choice. Maybe a little pepper jack- or too over powering for the burger???
